Hayden Central Vacuum Systems

Ted Hayden is an interesting guy, and has done a lot to further the Central Vacuum Industry.  He is the first person to streamline the hose and cleaning accessory end of the business by introducing his Hayden Supersystem.

A Supersystem provides a 110-volt electrified, direct-connect central vacuum hose.  This hose connects into the wall vacuum outlet and, as it connects, a set of small prongs also connects directly into a 110-volt socket on the vacuum outlet.  Thus, the hose is immediately energized so as to power the electric rug nozzle.  Both the Central Vacuum System (CVS) and the power nozzle are controlled by a convenient switch located in the handle at the operator's fingertips.

The Hayden power nozzle is also direct connect - i.e., the act of inserting the hose into the power nozzle wand results in the connection of an electrical socket into prongs at the end of the power nozzle.  In this way, the 110-volt electrical circuit is completed and the power tool will operate when the handle switch is turned on.

When this above system - which is similar to that used in better portable canister vacuums - was introduced, it tremendously enhanced the ease-of-use of a central vacuum.  Now, the user no longer had to fight with exterior extension cords, etc. and the CVS would operate very much like a portable vacuum.

The Hayden group also makes a good line of Central Vacuum units. With features such as LEDs to alert the homeowner as to the need to empty the vacuum, service the motor, etc., Ted Hayden has innnovated additional advantages into the Hayden line up.
